Indians' pitcher David Huff was struck by a line-drive hit from the Yankees' Alex Rodriguez this afternoon during the two teams' meeting. The ball struck Huff above his left eye, and Huff lay motionless for approximately six minutes following the impact. Trainers from both teams joined together at the mound quickly to provide assistance.
Huff was carted off the field on a stretcher and waved to the crowd on his way off the field. We'll update with more details as they're available.
Per the Indians press release: "Huff was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center after being hit above his left ear on the side of the head in the 3rd inning of today's game at New York (lined drive off the bat of Alex Rodriguez). A CT scan was negative and he will remain at the hospital for the next several hours for precautionary observation"
