PCB Committee Submits Report on Zulqarnain

Pakistani officials submitted a report Monday into former wicket-keeper Zulqarnain Haider’s dramatic escape to London, abandoning his team ahead of a match with South Africa, the cricket board said. The 24-year-old fled the team hotel in Dubai on the morning of the fifth and final one-day against South Africa on November 8, claiming he received death threats from unknown people to influence the results of matches.

After flying into London, Zulqarnain retired from international cricket and sought asylum in Britain.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) terminated his contract and formed a three-man committee, headed by team manager Intikhab Alam, to establish the facts surrounding Haider’s disappearance.

The committee finalised and submitted its report to the PCB, the PCB said, declining to make any further comment Monday.

Team security manager Khawaja Najam and PCB official Subhan Ahmed were the other two members of the committee.

On Sunday, Haider posted a message on Facebook, threatening to name several players in the next five days who took money to fix matches.

His family in Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore have told local media that they received death threats.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) said its anti-corruption staff met Haider in London and offered support to the former wicket-keeper.

Haider faces severe punishment for violating ICC ethics by not telling the council he was asked to influence match results for money.

PCB chairman Ijaz Butt says the Board’s decision on the Haider affair will be based on the committee’s report.

Several former players criticised Haider for merely trying to get political asylum in Britain.

They didn't score on the first play of the game or build up a big lead, but they did look like the better team early on in the game.

The Eagles took a 13-3 lead to halftime, but left a lot of points on the board. Besides the field goal that was blocked as the half ended, Jason Avant and DeSean Jackson both dropped balls that could have been touchdowns. There were opportunities to drop the hammer early on, but the Eagles failed to take advantage.

In the second half, the Eagles looked a little bit flat as Vick couldn't work his magic against a stingy Giants defense. The Eagles defense allowed the Giants to come back and take their first lead of the game early in the fourth quarter.

However, the Eagles weren't about to give up. Facing a fourth down situation with under five minutes remaining in the game, the Birds had no chance but to go for it. An offsides call on the Giants created a 4th-and-1 situation, where Vick pitched the ball to LeSean McCoy who busted off a 50-yard touchdown to get the lead back. A two-point conversion from Vick to Jason Avant put the Eagles back on top 24-17.

With the Giants looking to bounce back, Asante Samuel recorded his second interception of the game, uet fumbled the ball back to the Giants during the return.

The cast of characters included the two bananas, B1 and B2, their 3 bear friends, Amy, Lulu, and Morgan, and Rat in a Hat and they all live in a cul-de-sac called Cuddles Avenue.The show was really cute and a lot of fun and my youngest absolutely loved the show when she was younger. She even had a Bananas In Pajamas birthday party one year with a Banana in Pajama cake, doll, and even figures of all the characters.

India 32/2 in 216 Target Chase

India lost two wickets at 32 in their second innings while chasing Australian target of 216 on fourth day of the first Test at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium here on Monday. Zaheer Khan swung Australia’s tail out cheaply to build on the earlier good work of Ishant Sharma and the spinners. The Australians added 27 runs for the loss of their last four wickets after tea, which left India with a chance to make major inroads into their chase before stumps.

Zaheer grabbed the final three wickets after Pragyan Ojha had Tim Paine sharply caught by the substitute Cheteshwar Pujara at silly point in the first over after the break. Zaheer had Mitchell Johnson caught behind for 3, before rattling the stumps of Nathan Hauritz (9) and Ben Hilfenhaus (6) to finish off the Australians for 192.

India lost their two wickets at the score of 32 still need 184 runs to win the match while Sachin Tendulkar and Virendra Sehwag were at the crease.

The home team will need to make the fourth-highest successful chase in the history of Test cricket in India to win the match.

Gerard Houllier will renew his rivalry with Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson when Aston Villa welcome the Red Devils to Villa Park this Saturday. In the Manchester derby during the week United were flat to say the least as themselves and neighbours Man City saw out a dull 0-0 draw. Alex Ferguson will have to try and pick his side up for this clash with Villa as Aston Villa will be raring to go especially after their last minute winner over Blackpool on Wednesday. Despite being the only club left in the country to remain unbeaten, on the road Manchester United haven't been at their best. From the six away encounters they have played in the league this season they have drawn five of them.

The main problem for Aston Villa at the moment is their ever-growing injury list. As many as nine players could be sidelined for the visit of Manchester United with Carlos Cuellar and Habib Beye the latest to be added to the list. Cuellar has been ruled out but Habib Beye may be able to overcome an ankle strain.

Paul Scholes is out for Manchester United as he serves a ban for picking up five yellow cards. Rafael has also been ruled out of facing Villa with a dead leg while Patrice Evra is a major concern with an ankle problem.

Looking at the Aston Villa injury list it is hard to imagine that they will have enough to secure three points against Manchester United this Saturday. Combine that with their awful record against United and you have a recipe for disaster. Ping Pong Club, Last night, at the Mondrian Los Angeles it was all about small balls…well, small ping pong balls, as the guy who was wearing a shirt that said “SMALL BALLS” pointed out to us.

Yes, last night was the official opening of the SPiN Ping Pong Hollywood and on hand for the games were the SPiN folks including founders Franck Raharinosy and Jonathan Bricklin, Susan Sarandon (a part investor and possible girlfriend of Bricklin’s), Amy Smart, Rachelle Lefevre (she played the first Victoria in the “Twilight” series and then randomly, former “Bachelor” fiancee, Vienna Girardi.

Before arriving at the hotel, we were curious to see how they were going to fit ping pong tables into the ADCB lounge which is just off to the left of the entrance. Well, somehow they managed to squeeze two tables in there, with the second table ending just before the bar. These aren’t the kind of tables found in your parents’ basement. These are thick, sturdy, professional ping pong tables.

And playing on them, were a few professional ping pong players including Wally Green who boasted that he sometimes uses his Blackberry as a paddle.
