Bj Penn Vs Frankie Edgar 2Latest News Update About Bj Penn Vs Frankie Edgar 2: As with every major show, BloodyElbow.com will be here to bring you live results and commentary for UFC 118: Penn vs. Edgar 2.? The live blog will start with the beginning of the Spike TV broadcast (at 9PM EST) and continue through the pay-per-view (at 10pm EST) so make sure to make Bloody Elbow your home for this event.? As always we have our one rule: NO SPOILERS! In the interest of not ruining anything from the undercard that may make the broadcast we ask that you do not discuss the results of the undercard in the comments until either the broadcast ends or the fight makes the air.


The Spike TV broadcast is live, first fight up shortly.


Andre Winner vs. Nik Lentz – Round 1 – Lentz goes for the takedown on a single leg and Winner defending well and landing some short punches.? Lentz is being relentless looking to finish. Lents gets the takedown and Winner stands up and Lentz takes him right back down taking his back. Nik landing a few punches but Winner stands up again. Lentz still looking for the single leg and Winner pulls him up.? Winner with a knee and he gets some separation but Lentz just drives forward into a single leg attempt again and again Winner with a short knee. Lentz still looking for the takedown and again can’t get it. Knee to the body for Winner and Lentz pushes into him again. Knee to the body from Lentz as the boos start.Winner with a pair of hard punches and a knee to the head followed by an elbow to the head. Lentz manages to get the takedown and Winner again stands up. Hard left hook by Winner. Lentz pushed Winner into the cage for the majority of the round but Winner did the most damage. 10-9 Winner on my card but we’ll see what actually happens.


Round 2 – Head kick from Winner is blocked, Lentz lands a punch and gets in close pushing him into the cage. Knee to the body from Winner and he gets his back off the cage. Winner landing some inside punches and Lentz just keeps pushing for the takedown. Right hook from Winner as they separate lands hard and Lentz pushes right back into the cage. He’s got to figure out something else here. Lentz gets the takedown but again can’t hold Winner down. Elbows to the side of the head by Winner and Lentz takes him down for a second before Winner gets up again. Again I’d give it 10-9 Winner but I’m pretty sure the judges will have Lentz up 20-18.


Round 3 – Winner landing some sharp strikes from distance so Lentz pushes him right back into the cage. Lentz gets a takedown and Winner stands up without taking any damage after about 20 seconds. Lentz manages to drag him back down, this time landing a few punches. Winner stands up and Lentz takes him back down, taking his back. Lentz has the back with both hooks in. Lentz into mount and he lands some short punches. Lentz finally looking for a rear naked choke and the round ends. 10-9 Lentz and my card is 29-28 Winner.

Joe Lauzon vs. Gabe Ruediger – Round 1 – Lauzon landing some hard punches. Now a nice body lock and throw and Lauzon gets to side control and then takes the back. Lauzon tries to get to mount but Ruediger defends. Now big elbows and a jump to side control. Big shots from Lauzon. Ruediger stands up and Lauzon slams him, lands some huge shots and then an armbar. Joe Lauzon wins by submission (armbar), round 1.


Marcus Davis vs. Nate Diaz – Round 1 – Left hand by Davis and Diaz with a counter. Leg kick from Diaz. Two punches from Diaz and he won’t stop taunting so Davis drops him and lands several more punches before Diaz got up. Davis is bleeding near his left eye. Left hand from Davis. Body shot from Davis. Left from Davis and Diaz lands a left hand counter. Diaz landing some straight punches and a hard left hook from Davis. Leg kick lands for Diaz. Diaz looking for a takedown but Davis avoids. Diaz starting to land a little better now and he drives in looking for a single leg. Overhand right by Diaz. Both men land in an exchange. Davis with a nice combination on the inside. Davis landing some hooks and Diaz comes back with a flurry. Nice two punch combo as a counter for Davis. The round ends with Diaz landing a few more punches. Close round, 10-9 Davis on my card.


Round 2 – Davis bleeding pretty badly as the round is about to start so the health-work.blogspot.com/' target='_blank' class='infotextkey'>doctor stops to check the cut. The doctor lets them go. Left hand for Davis right away. Dias landing a sharp jab. Diaz looking for a takedown Straight left from davis. Diaz is doing good work, his style is just very hard to explain in words in this format. Davis keeps looking for one or two punches at a time but he’s getting picked apart at a distance. Left hand from Davis and another hard one. Nice flurry from Diaz now. Diaz pops him hard. Leg kick from Davis but his eye is bleeding pretty bad. Diaz pushing for the takedown and can’t get it before the round ends but Davis does only to have Diaz reverse. 10-9 Diaz.


Round 3 – Diaz landing hard flurries. Davis’ eye is awful. Diaz looking for the takedown and he can’t get it but he doesn’t really need to with the way he’s landing punches. Nice right hand from Diaz. Diaz is just hitting davis with whatever he wants. Davis’ eye is swollen to a really grotesque degree. Diaz with the takedown. Diaz locks up a choke and Davis goes out cold. Diaz looked tremendous after the knockdown in the first. Nate Diaz wins by technical submission (choke), round 3.


Kenny Florian vs. Gray Maynard – Round 1 – Not much action for the first minute. Head kick by Florian is blocked. Two minutes in and still nothing really happening. Florian with a pair of leg kicks. Right hand from Florian lands. Maynard finally driving for a takedown and he gets it. Gray is in Florian’s guard now. Maynard lands a few punches to the body and now some heavier punches. Maynard won the round with the takedown on my card.





Round 2 – Not a lot happening in the early parts of round 2. Florian throwing a head kick that got blocked. Uppercut from Maynard and now he drives in looking for the takedown and he gets Kenny down but Florian manages to stand back up. Manyard with the takedown again into side control. Kenny has a cut over his left eye. Maynard landing a few decent punches now but Florian regains guard. Maynard staying busy enough to avoid the stand-up. 10-9 round for Maynard.


Round 3 – Counter punch from Kenny. Florian high kick blocked and he lands a left hook after a missed superman punch. Maynard with the takedown again. Maynard landing to the body. Maynard landing some punches to Florian’s head to avoid the stand-up. Florian trying to find something off his back here.Florian stands up but is quickly taken back down. Florian almost locks in an omoplata but can’t finish it and they’re standing with 20 seconds left. The fight ends and it should be a clean sweep for Maynard.


Official Scorecards – 30-27,? 30-27, 29-28 all for Gray Maynard. Gray Maynard wins by unanimous decision.


Demian Maia vs. Mario Maranda – Round 1 – Maia uses a punch to get inside on Miranda and gets a single leg. Maia puts him on the ground and is landing a good amount of punches. Maia working toward the back. Miranda is able to escape as Maia was transitioning for an armbar and they’re back to standing. Maia landing a few punches. Leg kick from Miranda. Kick blocked by Maia. The round ends and it was 10-9 Maia.


Round 2 – Maia shoots for the single and in the scramble they end up standing with Maia holding a headlock which he uses for the takedown. Maia working well and gets to mount. Maia landing a few punches and working for an arm triangle but Miranda defends so Maia lands some big elbows. Maia working for an armbar while still landing punches. Miranda slips out just as it looks that Maia was going to get an armbar. 10-9 Maia again.


Round 3 – Maia shoots in and gets the takedown and is on Miranda’s back. Maia locking in a body triangle. Maia landing some solid punches and now Maia is thinking about transitioning from the back to an armbar. He does go for the armbar and Miranda manages to escape. Maia is gassing here. Right hand from Maia and he gets a takedown. Maia passes to full mount. Maia looking for the armbar again. Maia looks for the armbar again and Mirand a manages to get out again. The round ends and Maia clearly won all three rounds.


Official Scorecards: 30-27 across the board for Demian Maia. Demian Maia wins by unanimous decision.


James Toney vs. Randy Couture – Round 1 – Couture with a single leg and right into mount. Couture landing a lot of punches to the head as the crowd explodes into a “Randy” chant. Couture postures up and lands a few punches. Toney gets to the cage and as he tries to wall walk but ends up in an arm triangle. Toney defends and Couture tees off again and locks in a much deeper arm triangle. Toney is forced to submit. Randy Couture wins by submission (arm triangle), round 1.


B.J. Penn vs. Frankie Edgar – Round 1 – They exchange early with Penn looking much more aggressive than the last fight. Penn lands a hard uppercut and Edgar with a great takedown. Penn looking to sweep to an armbar but he can’t lock it in. Edgar still on top with Penn really controlling his posture. Penn gets up off the ground and they’re back to distance. Edgar with a nice right hand and he gets back out. Edgar with another big takedown. Penn gets back to his feet. Edgar with a leg kick. Left hand from Penn. Kick by Edgar after a punch from Penn. 10-9 Edgar.


Round 2 – Penn with a nice hook and a right hand counter to a body kick from Edgar. Knee from Edgar lands after a failed shot. Edgar shoved off when he shoots. Penn landing more this round. Left hand from Penn. Edgar shoots and gets the takedown. Penn with butterfly guard and he stands up. Left hand from Edgar. Nice leg kick from Edgar and he has come back to take over the round. Penn with a nice punch that lands. Edgar to the body with a kick. 10-9 Edgar again.


Round 3 – Penn throwing a few kicks early with neither man really landing much of note. Three punches from Edgar and he gets back out. Penn with a nice right hand that the announcers miss because they’re busy talking about Edgar’s family. Penn with a knee inside. Leg kicks from Edgar. Right hand over the top by Frankie. Edgar landing some nice flurries now. Right hand by Penn. Edgar shoots and it’s stuffed. Very nice two punch combo from Edgar. Edgar charges in for a takedown and pushes Penn into the cage. Edgar with two good punches and he gets back out. The round ends and it was 10-9 Edgar again.


Round 4 – Penn with a takedown and he almost is in mount.? Edgar manages to get to half guard. Edgar manages to escape back to his feet. Jab from Penn and a right hand from Edgar. Edgar kicks Penn in the leg and Penn slips to the ground. Edgar is on top now. Penn gets a very high guard. Edgar postures up enough to move Penn’s legs down. Big shots from Edgar now. Penn stands up but he’s getting dominated so far in this fight. Left hook from Edgar lands. edgar landing a few more potshots while Penn can’t get off in time to catch him. Right hand from Penn and the round ends. 10-9 Edgar and he has won every round on my card.


Round 5 – Penn quickly gets a takedown. As Edgar scrambles Penn takes him back down and almost has the back but Edgar manages to turn into him and end up on top. Edgar lands an elbow and goes to the punches. Edgar is just pounding on him now. Penn looks like he can’t do a single thing here. They get back to the feet and Edgar lands again and again. I didn’t think he could do it again but he has done it, and done it with much more emphasis and been even more impressive than the first time around. 10-9 Edgar gives him a clean sweep on my card.


Official Scorecards: 50-45 across the board. Frankie Edgar wins by unanimous decision.
