Sachin Score

Latest News: Sachin Score, Was there ever a player who deserved it more? Sachin Tendulkar today powered himself past the records of Pakistan's Saeed Anwar and Zimbabwe's Charles Coventry for the highest score in an ODI, 194 (n.o. in Coventry's case). Not satisfied he then crossed the final frontier in international limited overs cricket for a batsman when he became the first player to score a double century in the format.

I've seriously run out of adjectives to describe this man's batting… lets just say everything from a brutal pull over mid off against van de Merwe to the most delicate leg glances to square leg against Dale Steyn was played, were truly were treated to the full gamut of his brilliant stroke play. Sachin scored just under 50% of India's total of 401, powered at the end by an MSD blitz of 68 off just 35 deliveries, an innings full of flat sixes against the quick bowlers

There will be those who say batting conditions were perfect at the Captain Roop Singh Stadium at Gwalior: the ground is small, the outfield lightning quick and the pitch flatter than LG's latest TV, but these are almost standardized conditions in ODIs today. Tendulkar is not the first to have encountered them and will not be the last to take advantage of them. His 46th century (!) might well be the one that shall stand tallest for all time in the ODI record books. Smashing 25 fours and 3 sixes began to take their toll on the little master, and with he had little time to rest with Yusuf Pathan and MS Dhoni urging him on for every two for what would in most cases been a single. Visible signs of tire, and at one point fears that he would cramp up, were however put to rest as he brought up the landmark in the last over of the innings squeezing a full delivery on the off to point off a bruised and bloodied Charl Langeveldt, the 200 scored off just 147 balls!

Congratulations Sachin Tendulkar, the Greatest ODI Batsman this world has ever known!
