Dharamshala Cricket Stadium, Dharamsala: With IPL coming to Dharamshala, cricket fever is gaining momentum in Himachal as well. This is for the first time that the state will get an opportunity to host an event which will have a global audience. HimVani too is part of the celebration as hosting of IPL matches in Dharamshala augurs well for sports as well as tourism industry in the state.

In a run up to the event, HimVani has made this small effort to showcase the Dharamshala cricket stadium. The stadium is situated close to the Dharamshala Degree College. The place is such that it is visible from most of the locations in Kangra valley. We had an opportunity to visit the stadium few months back. The civil works construction was in full swing back then, yet? the first looks of the stadium and the interiors were all first class.

The stadium was established in 2003 and has a sitting capacity of 21,000 people. The two ends in the stadium are named as the College End and the River End. The venue has been nicely done with north pavilion and club lounge adding to the charm of the place. The stadium complex houses training areas, restaurant, air conditioned rooms, bar room and host of other amenities for the players and association members. Photos of cricketing legends adorn the walls of the club lounge and will certainly help in inspiring future cricketers from Himachal.
