Newcastle Vs Preston

Newcastle Vs Preston Latest News Updsate,Newcastle manager Chris Hughton could name the same side that beat Coventry for the visit of Preston, while Darren Ferguson could ring the changes. Hughton has no new injury worries and his only selection dilemma is whether or not to start Alan Smith. The Magpies’ captain was left out against the Sky Blues in midweek with Danny Guthrie and Kevin Nolan being preferred in midfield. Nicky Butt (thigh) and Jose Enrique (hamstring) are working their way back to full fitness but they will not be included in the squad. Shola Ameobi (hamstring) and Steven Taylor (knee) are further absentees, while Joey Barton (foot) is set to return to training this week following his injury lay-off.

Preston news Preston chief Ferguson could wield the axe as he was left fuming after his side slumped to a dismal 5-3 defeat against Derby at Pride Park on Tuesday.

He was particularly scathing of his defenders after drafting Neill Collins and Tom Williams – signed on loan from Peterborough – into his back four.

They replaced Youl Mawene and Michael Hart in the starting line-up, but Ferguson could ring the changes in defence and elsewhere.

Left-back Williams seems certain to again deputise for Callum Davidson, who has missed the last six games through injury and may miss out again.

Midfielder duo Richard Chaplow (groin) and Paul Parry (knee) could also remain sidelined while long-term absentee Barry Nicholson (broken leg) is still out.
