World Wide Wes: On today's 3 pm episode of Outside the Lines, everybody's favorite serious ESPN reporter, Bob Ley, will attempt to answer the question that so often crosses the minds of avid basketball fans: who is Worldwide Wes? It should make for very interesting viewing.
My guess is that OTL throws out a few interesting tidbits, but in the end, confuses us even more regarding who Wes is and what he's all about, further setting us all up for 20 years from now when William Wesley tops the NYT best seller charts with his tell all auto-biography which is sure to be the most compelling read this side of Harry Pott…uh, I mean Outliers.
Anyway, the rumors from early this morning of the back channel communication between Wes and various teams about a LeBron-Cal package deal have touched off a mini-reporting fire storm. Rick Bozich attempted to gain some insight from Wes himself, to no avail.? Andy Katz and Chris Broussard of ESPN also did some digging, turning up nothing.? Gregg Doyel also chimed in in his typically gentle manner, calling the report "bullcrap".
