Youth Olympic Games Opening CeremonyLatest News Update About Youth Olympic Games Opening Ceremony: The 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games (YOG) flame will be brought to the Float at Marina Bay the world's largest floating stage, tonight. It will light the 2010 YOG cauldron as part of the opening ceremony, signifying begins of the Games. The flame will continue to burn during the 12 days of the Games until the closing ceremony on August 26.


The YOG is set to feature pioneering new sporting events, cultural, and educational activities via social media to reach out and amuse young people and engrave their mark on the Olympic program. Yesterday, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew lit the cauldron at the Promontory@Marina Bay marking the end of the 6 day torch convey in the Singapore leg.


The flame has also travelled to every continent from Berlin to Dakar; Mexico City; Auckland and Seoul before reaching Singapore. More than 5,000 athletes are participated in the YOG 2010.





The Selected lanes and roads in the Marina Bay area will be closed to traffic for the 2010 YOG Opening Ceremony tonight. Signage will be placed near roads, and members of the public are confident to tune in to LTA Traffic News for updates on traffic conditions.


The roads are closed during Youth Olympic Games follows are:


* Raffles Avenue–From 2pm to 12 midnight and 2-lane end from 9am to 2pm and 12 midnight to 2am.

* Republic Boulevard towards Raffles Ave ― From 11a.m to 12 midnight and 1-lane closure from 12 midnight to 2am.

* Connaught Drive 2-lane closure–From 2pm to 12 midnight.

* Temasek Avenue from Raffles Blvd to Raffles Ave–From 2pm to 12 midnight.

* Bayfront Avenue from ERP Gantry to Raffles Ave–From 2pm to 12 midnight.

* Collyer Quay towards Shenton Way from Esplanade Drive to Marina Boulevard–From 9pm to 12 midnight.

* Esplanade Drive–From 9pm to 12 midnight.

* Nicoll Highway from Raffles Blvd to Raffles Ave–From 9pm to 12 midnight.

* Stamford Road from Raffles Ave to St. Andrew's Rd–From 9pm to 12 midnight.


The pedestrian pathway along Temasek Avenue (between Raffles Boulevard and Raffles Avenue); Bayfront Avenue (From ERP Gantry to Raffles Avenue); Raffles Avenue will also be closed. Tickets for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games will go on sale on online.
