Youth Olympic Games: NASSAU; The Bahamas � The Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations has released its six athletes named for the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore this summer.
Alpheus Finlayson, the association's public relation officer, revealed that Stephen Newbold who set a new record in the Under-17 Boys 400 hurdles at Carifta, heads the list of athletes.
The other athletes, which will join their counterparts from Jamaica, USA, Canada, Cuba, Brazil, Trinidad & Tobago and other North America, Central America and the Caribbean (NACAC) and South America countries as the Americas team, are Ryan Ingraham (high jump), Marva Etienne (100m), Shaune Miller (400m), Lathone Minns (triple jump), and Tynia Gator (200m).
The six athletes were selected based on their performances at March's Carifta Games, which was held in the Cayman Islands. Athletes, who for whatever reasons did not participate in the Carifta Games would not have been considered for selection.
The Youth Olympic Games, which will feature athletes between the ages of 14 and 18, will staged from the 4th to 26th of August 2010.
