The live blog will start with the beginning of the PPV broadcast (at 10PM ET) so make sure to make Bloody Elbow your home for this event. As always we have our one rule: NO SPOILERS! In the interest of not ruining anything from the undercard that may make the broadcast we ask that you do not discuss the results of the undercard in the comments until either the broadcast ends or the fight makes the air.


The PPV broadcast is live, first fight up shortly.


Roy Nelson vs. Junior dos Santos – Round 1 – Nelson working the jab trying to get in and Junior is throwing hard.? Both men land right hands and Nelson manages to get inside and get the clinch. He’s pressing Junior into the cage and trying to wear him out. Nelson pushes him across the cage and won’t let go of the body lock. Big knee on the way out by Junior.? Nelson keeping his hands up high nut Junior cuts through the guard with an uppercut.? NOw he’s unloading and Roy is hurt but still trying for the takedown.? Nelson is covering up and Junior is trying to unload. Nelson did a really good job of protecting himself to survive and now Junior is blasting him again.? Junior is dominating this fight when they’re at a distance.? Big jab lands for dos Santos. Nelson with an overhand right that didn’t have a ton of steam on it.? Another right hand but Junior keeps landing. uppercut from Junior and a right hand by Roy.? Big right from dos Santos and the round ends. Very clear 10-9 round for Nelson. Round 2 – Right hand lands for Nelson and he misses a takedown follow up.? Junior teeing off but Roy does a nice job of covering up. Left hook by Roy is countered by Junior.? Big body shots from Junior. Nelson dives for a takedown and Junior sprawls very well and does a great job of defending. Junior shoots and can’t get it.? He’s bleeding from around his right eye. They’re both tiring toward the end of the round and Roy can’t get the takedown. 10-9 Junior but much closer than round 1. Round 3 – Right hand from Roy and back comes Junior.? Nice body shot from dos Santos. dos Santos shoots in and gets a brief takedown but they go right back to their feet. Junior keeps picking him apart but Roy is tough and hanging in there.? Junior hits and Roy misses a huge overhand right. Knee to the body from Junior. Leg kick from Roy. Junior back to landing at will while Roy plods forward. Roy throws a few uppercuts and an overhand out of desperation before the round ends and it’s over. 10-9 Junior should give him the clean sweep. Official scorecards: 30-26, 30-27 and 30-27 all for Junior dos Santos. Junior dos Santos wins by unanimous decision.


Ricardo Almeida vs. Matt Hughes – Round 1 – Hughes trying to circle and find a spot for his right hand. Neither man really landing here early. Hughes finding his leg kicks and Almeida lands a right hand in the clinch. Left hook by Hughes hurts and drops Almeida goes down. Hughes follows him and in the scramble Hughes chokes him out cold!? WOW! Forget the retirement talk folks. Matt Hughes wins by technical submission (front choke), round 1.


Rafael Dos Anjos vs. Clay Guida – Round 1 – Huge Guida chant, the dude’s popularity is crazy. They’re both exchanging punches and Rafael lands. Guida with a head kick. Leg kick from RDA. They exchange again and Guida lands some good shots but Rafael back to the leg kicks that are landing hard. Rafael shoots and gets turned into the cage. Guida unable to get the takedown but he won’t stop looking for it. Rafael misses a jumping knee. Hard left hand by Rafael now. Rafael with an uppercut and he gets the double leg takedown on Clay. The round ends and it’s 10-9 dos Anjos on my card. Round 2 – (had technical issues) Guida was able to get a late takedown after getting beat up on the feet early in the round. The round was very close but it was mentioned that dos Anjos said he had a broken jaw. Round 3 – Guida got a takedown and forced Rafael into the cage, putting pressure on his jaw and due to the injury Rafael had no choice but to tap. Clay Guida wins by submission, round 3.





A prelim fight was shown with Stefan Struve getting a great second round comeback KO.


Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves – Round 1 – Alves with a right hand counter to a leg kick from Fitch. Head kick from Fitch. Fitch with a takedown and he has Alves’ back and gets a hook in. Alves stands up and Fitch keeps locked up on him and drags him back down.? Fitch tosses him right back down and into side control as Alves tries to stand again. Nice escape by Alves and he gets top position. Fitch gets inside and lands some knees from the clinch. Fitch is actually getting the best of the stand up and gets another takedown and the round ends. 10-9 Fitch. Round 2 – Fitch with a nice right hand and another takedown. Fitch lands a few punches and Alves tries to wall walk. Alves can’t get anything done here and Fitch is all over him. I’m not sure how much of this is Fitch’s skills and how much is Alves’ weight cut but Jon is dominating.? Alves gets up briefly but the round ends. 10-9 Fitch again. Round 3 – Fitch coming out and landing jabs.? Head kick by Alves is blocked. Alves is keeping it outside a bit better this round but when they close up Fitch gets the takedown again and he has moved to the back and gets the body triangle and is working for an arm triangle but Alves turns him over. The round and fight comes to an end with Alves not doing much of anything. 10-9 Fitch again. Official Scorecards:? 30-27 across the board.? Jon Fitch wins by unanimous decision.


Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen – Round 1 – Silva throwing punches and Sonnen throws a jumping knee. Sonnen lands a punch tha hurts Silva and he throws a flurry of uppercuts.? Silva with a takedown now and they’re back to standing.? Sonnen lands some punches again and again Silva is hurt. Sonnen with the takedown and he is pinning Silva’s arm and landing punches.? Sonnen landing some punches and he is dominating here.? This is crazy. Huge punch by Sonnen. This is…I have no clue what I’m seeing. Sonnen keeps working with huge punches from the top.?? 10-8 round for Sonnen. Wow. Round 2 – Sonnen with a takedown and he is just wearing Silva out from the top. I’m having a hard time writing about this because of the shock here. Sonnen dominated the round again from the top. 10-9 Sonnen. Round 3 – Back kick from Silva and Sonnen shoots in and gets another takedown.? Silva gives up his back. Sonnen landing punches to the side of Silva’s head. Silva spins and is back to guard.? Silva locks up a body triangle.? Sonnen is landing a lot of punches though and continuing to grind away. Sonnen defending with position as Silva was looking to set up an armbar. Sonnen keeps landing punches. 10-9 Sonnen. Round 4 -Silva hurts him early and gets a takedown but Sonnen is able to reverse. Silva had him in a bad way early but now Sonnen is back on top and safe landing punches again. Sonnen with some big right hands from top. Silva is getting his feet on the hips and trying to make something happen.Sonnen is just dominating with position, this is…not what I expected. Anderson has cut Sonnen open with elbows from the bottom. Silva still working elbows from the bottom and the round ends. 10-9 Chael. Anderson needs to finish. Round 5 – Anderson is looking for the kill and avoids a takedown. Silva gets hit and slips to the ground and Chael is on top landing punches.? Sonnen to side control.? Silva tries to escape but just ends up regaining guard. Anderson Silva locks in a triangle choke and Sonnen taps! It’s over! Sonnen is claiming he didn’t tap but the replay shows it clearly. Amazing comeback! Anderson Silva wins by submission (triangle choke), round 5.
