Cristiano Ronaldo made his presence felt early on in the match against Ivory Coast, smashing a 30-yarder that bobbed, swerved and dipped against the post in the tenth minute of the game.
The superb effort marked the intensification of the battle in the Group of Death as their rivals Ivory Coast, starting without star Didier Drogba were trying constantly to pile some pressure on the Portuguese forwards.
Benjamin Angoua was the first player to be yellow carded in the game, earning the ignominy in the sixth minute itself. Ronaldo was the next man to be given the card in the twentieth minute due to his cheeky effort for glory against four defenders.
