URUGUAY VS NETHERLANDS: The only South American nation left in the 2010 World Cup Tournament, Uruguay, will battle against Netherlands in the semifinal round on July 6, 2010 in Cape Town. The winner in this single round match will qualify for the final round.

Uruguay were able to qualify in the semifinal round after beating Ghana (4-2) in a dramatic penalty shoot out. Head coach Oscar Tabarez task became more complicated now that some of his players were out. Captain Diego Lugano who plays for Fenerbahce SK is having several test to check whether he can play in the semifinal game. Lugano has torn ligaments in his right knee and he might not play. AFC Ajax midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro will not only miss the semifinal round but also the finals (if ever Uruguay wins against Netherlands), because he has fractured a bone in his right foot during Uruguay's penalty shootout victory over Ghana. Not only Lugano and Lodeiro will miss the semifinal round due to injury but also F.C. Porto fullback Jorge Ciro Fucile.
