Big 12 Wrestling Championship


Big 12 Wrestling Championship, THE BIG 12 Wrestling Championships 2010, which will take place on Saturday, March 6, will played at McCasland Fieldhouse in Norman, Oklahoma. All five nationally-ranked league squads will be in action for the 14th annual event. Oklahoma hosted the conference championship last time in 2002 when the Sooners claimed their 23rd conference title. Competing against the Sooners this weekend are No. 2 Iowa State, No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 17 Missouri and Nebraska. The Cyclones will attempt to win their fourth-straight Big 12 title. Zack Bailey (Oklahoma) has been named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week. It is the first Conference honor of Bailey's career.





Mizzou's Max Askren is ranked No. 3 with an 11-1 record but has seen limited action this season. Iowa State's Jake Varner is ranked no. 1 and this session his record is 24-0. J. Carl Guymon and former Oklahoma State All-American wrestler Lee Roy Smith will call the matches from McCasland Field House in Norman, Okla.


Ellis will face senior No. 3 David Zabriskie of Iowa State in the heavyweight semifinals. Ellis has never beaten Zabriskie. With 120 career victories, Jared Rosholt is the most winner heavyweight in OSU history. He brings a 27-match winning streak into the Big 12 Championships.
