Spain’s Dani Pedrosa has won the German MotoGP, holding off his compatriot Jorge Lorenzo, the world championship leader. Pedrosa, racing for Honda, finished the race 3.355 seconds ahead of Lorenzo, at Germany’s Sachsenring racing circuit.
Lorenzo started in the pole position, but had to settle for second place after the race was restarted following a crash on lap nine. After a 25-minute delay for the track to be cleaned up, Pedrosa regrouped to take the lead he never relinquished. With 10 rounds of the championship remaining, Lorenzo, who won the previous three races and has finished no worse than second all season, leads the pack with 185 points. Pedrosa, in second place overall, has 138 points and Andrea Dovizioso, an Italian, is third with 102 points.
